Boron the Snowy Owl

I may have finished making the band, but I'm not done yet!  Here is Boron, King of the Ga'hoole tree.  He is one of the easiest owls I have made so far, but I really like how he turned out.

You can also use this pattern to make Queen Baran. (she has more black spots)

Twilight the Great Grey Owl

Here is Twilight!  He's not the reason I called my blog Great Grey Crochet; I just like great grey owls.  Though, he is one of my most favorite characters.

I didn't think it could get much harder then Digger, but I think Twilight is a lot more difficult.  His basic form is very simple, but embroidering his feathers isn't so simple.  So have Fun! ; )

Thus ends the making of the band! (Soren, Gylfie, Digger, and Twilight)

Get ready.  Embroidery circle on face with very dark grey.  Embroidery yellow beak.  Use the black thread and needle to embroidery rings on face. (You my want to use yarn instead of thread, because it looks a little funny)  Embroidery white eye brows and beard.  Place yellow felt around eyes and put them in face.  Embroidery stripes in Head/Body and Wings with very dark grey yarn.  Slst tog wings and sew them onto sides of Head/Body.  Sew legs onto bottom.

I'm not completely satisfied with him and plan to make a better looking Twilight soon.  And I will get pictures of him outside.

Digger the Burrowing Owl

I've been very busy lately, but I've managed to make Digger.  His pattern is actually very similar to Soren's pattern, only I didn't give Digger the head piece that Soren has.  The thing that was very difficult about this guy is that he has so many white stripes and spots on his mostly brown feathers.  If you don't like them, you can crochet them in.

Assembly:
This is where it gets tricky. Sew with thread or yarn. On the head/body, (putting the first st in the back) slst or embroidery (I used embroidery) the heart around his face using white yarn. Then embroidery beak just above bottom middle of heart. Cut out green felt and place around eyes. Place black 8mm eyes in head a little above beak.  Embroidery all spots and stripes on Head/Body, Wings, and Tail with white yarn. Sew wings onto sides of Head/Body. Sew end of Tail back to beg of Tail.  Embroidery brown stripes onto legs and tail.  Then sew legs on bottom of body.
